A New Laurelwood Coming to Battle Ground

A new Laurelwood is opening in Battle Ground Wa. Battle Ground you say?? Where’s that? Well Battle Ground is about 30 minutes North of our Portland. Mike the owner grew up about 10 miles from Battle Ground and graduated from Battle Ground High. It is one of the fastest growing Counties in the US, has a great population base, and North Clark County doesn’t have any Brewpubs.
The new location will have a brewery, kids play area, about 135 seats inside, and weather permitting about 40-50 seats outside. They hope to be open by mid July.

The Barley Cup is a contest for brewers where a random drawing determines the brew style to be crafted. For the patrons and judges, this ensures a full range of beers from which to choose. In keeping with tradition, the Capital City Homebrewers Club determine the overall winner of the Barley Cup trophy. The proud winner goes on to represent McMenamins at the Holiday Ale Festival in downtown Portland in December. Brewers are on hand to answer questions, give tours of the brewery and plead their cases for their own brews.

The Thompson house itself was built in 1905 by Spanish American War veteran Fred Thompson for his father Franklin, a Civil War veteran, and his mother Maria. It is rumored that some of the long-passed Thompsons still hang around, so keep an eye on your beer.
