Oregon Craft Beer Month monthlong celebration of craft beer by Oregon's Craft breweries, culminating with the 19th annual Oregon Brewers Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park

2nd Annual Great American Distillers Festival

Sample tastings from a gathering of more than 20 micro-distilleries from across the nation, accompanied by gourmet cheese, gourmet chocolate, drink competitions, and live music. $2 donation at the door benefits the Oregon Zoo, sampling costs additional.

Join Fred Eckhardt, the dean of American beer writers, as he pairs a selection of 10 Oregon microbrews with gourmet cheeses. Tickets cost $30 in advance, or $35 at the door; seating is limited.

OREGON BREWERS GUILD DINNER

Some of the biggest names in craft brewing attend this informal BBQ on the eve of the Oregon Brewers Festival. The ticket price of $35 includes dinner, a souvenir pint glass, and eight half-pints of Oregon beers that are not featured at the festival. Proceeds benefit Oregon Brewers Guild. Attendance is limited to 650.

 

Wednesday, July 26

OREGON BREWERS BLIND TASTING & TEST

The Blind Tasting features 12 Oregon IPA's and 12 Oregon Pale Ales served on a tasting tray. The Blind Test asks patrons to identify each of the beers served, per style. Votes will be tabulated and the person to correctly identify the most number of beers per style will receive airfare and lodging for two to Munich's Ocktoberfest(a total of two trips will be awarded). Following the voting, all 24 beers will be served and attendees can sample the beers in their souvenir mugs until the taps close at 9:00 p.m. Attendance is limited to 5,000 people and the cost is $40.

If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room! This four-day event features more than 30 Oregon craft beers and breweries not featured at the Oregon Brewers Festival and takes place at a variety of local pubs. Visit the website for a complete schedule.

 

OREGON BREWERS FESTIVAL BREWERS PARADE

At 3:30 pm, the public is invited to join in the celebration as brewers and beer lovers meet up for an old-fashioned sidewalk parade, accompanied by marching band music from The Jesters. The parade will wind its way through Portland sidewalks to the opening ceremonies of the 19th annual Oregon Brewers Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

This is the premier summer event for anyone who loves beer, or is visiting Portland. Sample and savor handcrafted beers from 72 of the nation's finest breweries. There's also industry exhibits, vendors, on-site food, live entertainment, and a rootbeer garden. Admission to the grounds is free; a one-time mug purchase is required for consuming beer and costs $4. Beer is purchased with tokens, which cost $1 apiece. It takes four tokens for a full mug, or one token for a taster. An ATM is located on-site. Minors are permitted with a parent til 7 p.m. The event opens at four on Thursday and noon on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Beer taps shut down at 9 pm Thursday through Saturday, and 7 pm Sunday.

Friday, July 28

GLEN HAY FALCONER BREW AM GOLF TOURNAMENT

Pair up with celebrity brewers for a round of golf at one of the coolest courses in the area. Enjoy a beautiful Oregon morning as you share beers and golfing camaraderie with numerous craft beer luminaries. $75 fee includes golf, picnic lunch, prizes, games, goodies, and a golf shirt. Proceeds benefit the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation to support its brewing scholarship program.

A large number of Imperial IPAs will pour in the restaurant parking lot, served up with Chicago dogs on the barbecue. Judging will take place from Noon to 6 pm. The public is encouraged to vote for the People's Choice.

The second last Monday beer dinner will feature the beers of Portland's Hair of the Dog Brewing Company. Hair of the Dog Adam, Rose and Fred will be served all month long.
