  • There are currently 63 brewing companies, operating 88 brewing facilities in Oregon. Of the 63 brewing companies, 59 are members of the Oregon Brewers Guild.1
  • There are 30 breweries operating within the Portland city limits, more than any other city in the world.1
  • The Portland metro area boasts 38 breweries, more than any other metro area in the world. 1
  • The Portland metro area is the largest craft brewing market in the United States(U.S.) Even though Portland ranks 23rd in population for Metro areas in the U.S.8
  • In 2007, Oregon breweries produced approximately 860,000 barrels of beer. That is equal to 1.72 million kegs or 285 million bottles of beer.1,2
  • Of that total 308,000 barrels were sold in Oregon, or about 11.4 percent of the total beer consumed in Oregon – the highest percentage of local craft beer consumption in the country.1
  • Almost 42 Percent of all draft beer consumed in Oregon is brewed in Oregon. 1
  • Craft beer represents 3.8 percent of the total volume of beer brewed in the U.S. 2
  • Oregon breweries directly employ 5000 Oregonians, many at family wage jobs. 1
  • Oregon is the No. 2 hop growing state in the country. 5
  • Oregon beer businesses paid $46.4 million in federal excise taxes in 2006 and $7.2 million in state excise taxes. 3,4
