Come meet the Head Brewers behind both Burnside Brewing and Breakside Brewery for a special evening at Spints Alehouse where they debut a new experimental Collaboration Fall Harvest Ale.
Also on tap will be Burnside Brewing’s new winter strong ale Permafrost and Breakside Brewery’s new Festbier, a lager made in collaboration with Podnah’s Pit BBQ
Also look for food specials designed by Spints owner/chef Alyssa Gregg to pair with each beer.
Collaboration Fall Harvest Ale Description:
A collaboration beer between Jason McAdam and Ben Edmunds, head brewers at Burnside and Breakside Brewing respectively. This is a malty golden ale brewed with 50 lbs of roasted Sauvie Island corn, 10 lbs of roasted New Mexico Hatch chiles, 25 lbs of roasted tomatoes, and lime zest. The beer uses an unlikely combination of ingredients from the late summer/early fall harvest, and the result is a surprisingly drinkable and complex beer that pairs beautifully with roasted and smoked foods.

The Barley Cup is a contest for brewers where a random drawing determines the brew style to be crafted. For the patrons and judges, this ensures a full range of beers from which to choose. In keeping with tradition, the Capital City Homebrewers Club determine the overall winner of the Barley Cup trophy. The proud winner goes on to represent McMenamins at the Holiday Ale Festival in downtown Portland in December. Brewers are on hand to answer questions, give tours of the brewery and plead their cases for their own brews.
The Thompson house itself was built in 1905 by Spanish American War veteran Fred Thompson for his father Franklin, a Civil War veteran, and his mother Maria. It is rumored that some of the long-passed Thompsons still hang around, so keep an eye on your beer.
