Vortex on the Bay/Astoria on the Rock Release
09/01/12
Fort George Brewery + Public House
1483 Duane St
Astoria
Noon
Fort George and Dunedin Brewery present “Astoria on the Rock,” the Florida brewery’s “The Rock” Imperial IPA brewed
on Fort George’s Sweet Virginia system. Earlier in the year, Fort George brewer, Jason Palmberg, set off to Dunedin,
Florida with a suitcase full of hops and some extremely white skin to brew a version of Vortex IPA at Dunedin’s brewhouse. Next Dunedin made a cross-country trip in their new refrigerated truck to deliver a keg of “Vortex on the Bay” to Fort George for a tasting. It was gone in an hour. The collaborating brewers will be on-hand to answer questions, share the intricacies of the two brews and breweries, and drink some of these extremely limited Imperial IPAs.

Collaboration Fall Harvest Ale Description:
A collaboration beer between Jason McAdam and Ben Edmunds, head brewers at Burnside and Breakside Brewing respectively. This is a malty golden ale brewed with 50 lbs of roasted Sauvie Island corn, 10 lbs of roasted New Mexico Hatch chiles, 25 lbs of roasted tomatoes, and lime zest. The beer uses an unlikely combination of ingredients from the late summer/early fall harvest, and the result is a surprisingly drinkable and complex beer that pairs beautifully with roasted and smoked foods.
