Guests will have the opportunity taste a variety of Oregon craft beers, sample some local chefs’ presentations+purchase a variety of local food specialties. Both sessions will have entertainment.
The Saturday tasting will have three entry packages. All include a souvenir glass. $10 will also include 3 tasting tokens.
$20 will include 14 tokens and a group package for four at $50 will include 24 tokens. To accommodate non-beer drinkers a single station wine bar will offer at minimum a red and white wine.

$10 Chowder Sampler
Fourteen local brewpubs and restaurants will vie for the coveted Chowder Cup. The blind tasting competition will take place from Noon to 4 pm. Admission is free. Attendees ages 12 and over must purchase sample trays for $10 to participate in the tasting. The family friendly event is a fundraiser for Locks of Love. Samples of New England-style clam chowders from the participants are served in non-labeled, two-ounce cups. After tasting all entries, attendees vote for their favorite.
The chowder receiving the most votes will be named the People’s Choice Winner and will take home the coveted Chowder Cup. Guest judges will determine the winners of three other divisions, including Most Authentic, Most Flavorful and Best with Beer. This year’s judges are John Chandler from Portland Monthly, Lisa “The Beer Goddess” Morrison from Beer O’Clock, and Anne Marie DiStefano from the Portland Tribune. The festivities also feature a beer garden, live music by Twisted Whistle, a soda garden for kids, Joe the Balloon Guy from Noon to 2 pm, a raffle, and pub food for purchase.
Participating restaurants include Cascade Brewing Barrel House, Coalition Brewing, Columbia River Brewing, East Burn, Fifth Quadrant, Green Dragon, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Laurelwood Public House and the New Old Lompoc. The New Old Lompoc has won the Chowder Cup three of the past four years.
Giraffe on Ice Skates Release

Purchase a pint of Giraffe on Ice Skates (a special beer brewed up just to celebrate WinterFest, the annual celebration of winter held in Bend’s Old Mill District) in the Portland pub and receive a free OnPoint Bend WinterFest button. Plus, Deschutes will donate $1 from each sale of Giraffe from both pubs to local charity Saving Grace. In Portland, patrons drinking Giraffe will also be entered to win a Bend WinterFest package, including accommodation at the Riverhouse Hotel, 2 lift tickets to Mt. Bachelor, a VIP brewery tour, Deschutes swag and two Bend WinterFest wine walk glasses. In the Bend pub, patrons will be able to win some cool Deschutes swag.
Giraffe on Ice Skates is named for some experimental hops that were marooned in the Deschutes Brewery cooler this Belgian-style beer is brewed with hibiscus. IBU’s 16 ABV 13.7%
